Nareeba Moopi Moopi Pa Aged Care Hostel (or ‘Moopi’ as it is more fondly known) is a 14-Bed Aged Care Hostel situated at One Mile on North Stradbroke Island. We provide permanent residential care as well as respite care. We are passionate about empowering the elders in our care to thrive, and we understand that one way to help people maintain control of their life is by providing choices. Our elders have choices in all aspects of their lifestyle and living environment, from health professionals to social opportunities that best suits their needs and preferences.

We provide permanent residential care as well as respite care. We are passionate about empowering the elders in our care to thrive, and we understand that one way to help people maintain control of their life is by providing choices.  Our elders have choices in all aspects of their livestyle and living environment, from health professionals to social opportunities that best suits their needs and preferences.

Over the last few months we have been working closely with the Queensland Department of State Development, manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning (DSDMIP) on plans to expand our facility as an initiative  of the North Stradbroke Island Economic Transition Strategy (NSIETS). DSDMIP helped us to apply in August 2018 for additional funding and aged care places under the Australian Government’s Aged Care Approvals Round (ACAR).

We are now very pleased to advise that on 5 March 2019, the Australian Government announced additional funding of $1.18 million and approval of an additional 10 aged care places for Moopi under ACAR. This will allow us to increase our total number of beds to 24 and improve functionality, amenities and access for the residents. these expansion works are anticipated to commence later in 2019, following detailed design work.

Back in the early 1990’s, dedicated people in the North Stradbroke Island community came together to establish culturally appropriate aged care on the island. We acknowledge their hard work and this project continues their commitment.

We will keep you informed as to the progress of these works. For further information on the project or the NSI ETS. you can also visit https://www.ditid.qld.gov.au/tourism/tourism-policy-and-strategies/north-stradbroke-island-economic-transition-strategy/north-stradbroke-island-ets-
